The 2e Daltonschool is located on the Willem Witsenstraat in the South district of Amsterdam and was founded in 1952. At this school, children are taught according to the ideas of Helen Parkhurst, known as the Dalton Education Plan. Dalton education is based on the following 5 core values: 'Independence', 'Freedom and responsibility', 'Co-operation', 'Effectiveness' and 'Reflection'.
The current building was opened in 1983. It's design fits the educational concept. Each group has its separate work space in the hallway where pupils can work independently in groups or individually. Also, the school has its own library and documentation centre, a well equipped classroom for art classes, a large central auditorium, an exclusive remedial teaching room and a separate play- and sports room for toddlers.
The 2e Dalton offers English language education from group 1 onwards and has specialised teachers for Physical Education, Arts & Craft and Science.
Costs of lunchcare: group 1 and 2 €180, groep 3-8 €245 (yearly fee, based on 4 weekdays, bring your own lunch concept)
